Two More! Two More!

Hi everyone,
It's been a long time since I've posted. Since October to be exact. Sorry! A professional blogger, I am not. But, I do have some exciting news to share. Brent only has TWO MORE chemo treatments left...he should have it all wrapped up by the beginning of August. I hope you are clapping your hands right now because I know I am.

Since this is a big week of anniversaries in the Van Putten household, lets take a look back, shall we? 8 years ago...

May 27, 2005 - Brent had a grand mal seizure
June 2, 2005 - Brent & Missy celebrated their 4 year anniversary
June 3, 2005 - Brent had his first brain surgery

Luke was 9 months old and Zack was 2 years old. Both were still in diapers.

Then, 6 years later...

June 2, 2011 - Brent & Missy celebrated their 10 year anniversary
June 6, 2011 - Brent had his 2nd brain surgery

And now, two years later, with only 2 more treatments to go, look at this rockstar...

It has not been an easy road for them, but I think we can all agree they have traveled it with faith, strength, grace, and love. I have so much respect and admiration for them. Brent & Missy, we hope this is your best anniversary yet...happy 12th!

Thanks for continuing to keep Brent and the Van Puttens in your thoughts and prayers! TWO MORE MONTHS! TWO MORE MONTHS!

Expect Miracles! I know I do!

Love, Meg

Home & Taking it Easy...

Hi VP Followers,

Great news...Brent came home today! The VPs are all home and together this evening. What a blessing! When I asked Missy if they ever figured out what was causing Brent all the coughing and breathing issues, she said he had/has a combo of pneumonia & bronchitis. Because he was on the chemo when he contracted it, his body was just not able to fight it off. Doctors orders are that he needs to take it easy for a little while so he can build up his strength. Thanks for all your prayers! Expect Miracles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still waiting...

Hi all,
As you can imagine, this has been a very long few days for the VPs. I tried calling Missy today to chat because we've really just been exchanging texts for the weekend and I wanted details. She sent me a text and said she can't talk because she has a mask on. If you've been trying to call her and she doesn't answer, it might be because she has a mask on!

Brent got a bronchoscopy today to find out more answers about what is going on.  It might still take a few more days until they know anything though. He seems to be feeling better and has been watching a lot of football since he cannot have visitors.

So, now it's time to wait some more. But, you can say a few prayers for the VPs while you wait. I'll post an update once they know more. Expect Miracles!!!

Brent in hospital - prayers please!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to give you a quick update on the Van  Puttens. Last week was Brent's chemo week (Saturday - Wednesday). Last weekend, he started coughing and not feeling well. Throughout the week, the cough continued to get worse. On Friday, he went to see his doctor because he was having trouble breathing and he was sent to the ER. He was admitted to Northside Hospital for monitoring and testing. They waited all day yesterday for a pulmonologist to come by to see him, but he/she never made it by. Hopefully today! I'm waiting on a update from Mis and will keep you posted. In the meantime, please keep Brent and the Van Puttens in your prayers. Expect Miracles!

MRI Stable!!!

Hi everyone!

Brent and Missy just got back from Brent’s regular visit to MDAnderson in Houston.  His MRI, thankfully, remains stable!  He will continue with his chemo treatments and, next week, he will begin his 15th round (out of 24).  Brent is excited that the number of treatments left is in the single digits! For now, the Van Puttens get to focus on school being back in session and fall baseball beginning.  Brent will continue to help coach both Zack and Luke’s teams.  Thank you always for your prayers and support.  We have recently updated the “About” section and “Our Prayer” section on this blog in case you wanted to have something specific to pray about for Brent, Missy, Zack and Luke.  Expect Miracles!!

Thank you!

MRI Stable!

Hi all,
Brent and Missy headed to Houston on Tuesday for his next MRI.  The results are in and Brent remains stable which means the chemo is working!  He has now completed 12 rounds of chemo and has 12 more rounds to go as long as he can continue to tolerate it.  They are grateful that they have the option to continue the chemo.  Please pray that he continue to tolerate the medicine with little to no side effects and that he keeps showing progress.  Please continue to keep Brent and the rest of the Van Puttens in your prayers!

Expect Miracles!

What a difference a year makes!

Hi everyone,

In case you did not see Missy's post on Facebook....here it is:

One year ago today, Brent had his 2nd brain surgery. Seven years (and 3 days) ago, he had his first. We have good days and bad days but what a difference a year makes. Today’s agenda is to be at home with our boys and dogs and for the boys to play baseball with their Daddy. It is a great day when baseball is the only plan! Expect Miracles!!! Brent is one of them!

Expect Miracles!
